Tip: use the template as a starting point, then swap in your own numbers and project names.

Court Clerk CV Example: Quick template

Start with a clean header that includes your full name, a UK mobile number, email address, city or town, and a LinkedIn URL if you have one. For the file name use a simple format such as FirstLast_CV.pdf and save as PDF unless the employer asks for a different format.

In the UK, you may also include your home town for localisation.

Follow the header with a short professional profile (often called a personal statement) that highlights your court administration experience and core skills. Keep the profile to 2-3 lines that name your role, years of experience and two strengths relevant to the vacancy.

If you have the right to work in the UK, include a brief line here or in a covering note.

Court Clerk CV Example: Employment history

List work history in reverse chronological order and include job title, employer, city/town and dates for each role. Use DD/MM/YYYY format for dates.

For each position add 3 to 6 achievement statements that start with a strong action verb and describe your contributions in plain terms.

Focus on duties that matter to courts such as case management, records handling, scheduling hearings and coordinating juries. Write each achievement to show the task and the result, for example that you managed high-volume filings, maintained accurate case records and supported courtroom operations.

Court Clerk CV Example: Skills and technical competencies

Group skills into two categories: technical and interpersonal, and place the most relevant skills near the top of the section. List software you know such as case management systems, electronic filing platforms and standard office software in one sentence so hiring managers see technical fit quickly.

Include interpersonal skills that matter in a courthouse such as confidentiality, attention to detail and time management, and give brief context in the experience section. Avoid vague entries like "team player" without context by tying the skill back to a specific duty in your bullets.

Court Clerk CV Example: Education and professional qualifications

Put your highest qualification first, with the awarding body, location and graduation year if recent or relevant. In the UK, include GCSEs, A-levels or equivalent, and list university degrees with the university name, location and degree title.

If you hold court-related training or certifications, list them beneath education and include the awarding body and year earned. If you are early in your career you can add relevant coursework or internships under education to demonstrate applicable knowledge.

Include continuing professional development where relevant. If applicable, note your right to work in the UK and any relevant professional memberships.

Additional Tips

  • 1
Save a tailored PDF and a plain-text version to test how the ATS reads your CV.
  • 2
When possible quantify workload with clear phrasing such as high-volume filings or multi-judge calendars rather than invented percentages.
  • 3
Keep a repository of proven achievement statements so you can quickly tailor them to each vacancy.
  • 4
For UK applications, ensure you tailor your CV to the job posting and consider posting on UK job boards such as Reed, Indeed UK, Totaljobs and LinkedIn.
